BURNED BUT NOT CONSUMED

12” X 12'“

Ink, Acrylic on Wood Panel

The title of this piece is an allusion to the story of Moses and the burning bush yet the concept of the it expands upon that idea in relation to the reality of being surrounded by wildfires in California. For many months, increasingly throughout every year now, fires have raged the hills, mountains, and valleys of the West Coast. The ability of the inhabitants of the state to persevere, effected but unconsumed by the tragedy speaks to the endurance of the human spirit.
