This work, commissioned by Grigio Art Consulting and Kaiser Permanente, distills the broad idea of connection and present presence through a simple image of a single elder female hand in the act of clasping a single elder male hand. Amid a background of swirling chaotic, reflective gold and silver, this act of touch seeks to evoke the experience of so many that pass the halls of any hospital, from patients to their loved ones, and comments on the dire need we all have to feel loved among the impact of life’s cycles. The handwritten text used for the drawing technique takes these ideas in a metaphoric conversation, using the impressionistic imagery of seasons mixed with the emotion of their impact.
